Mangaves are hybrids involving Agave and Manfreda. They combine the strong structure of Agave with some of the faster-growing characteristics found in Manfreda.

Growing & Care

Light:
Give it plenty of bright light. Some direct morning or afternoon sun helps maintain strong growth and a defined leaf shape. In very hot Australian conditions, protection from intense afternoon sun can help prevent scorching.

Water:
Water thoroughly when the growing mix has dried out. Allow excess water to drain away and avoid keeping the roots constantly wet.

Soil:
Use a gritty, free-draining cactus or succulent mix. Good drainage is especially important during Australia's wetter periods.

Temperature:
Best suited to warm conditions. Protect from frost and prolonged cold.

Position:
A sunny patio, balcony, courtyard, rockery or well-lit garden bed can all work well.

Does stronger light change its shape?

Can it live in a pot permanently?
Yes. A suitable container with drainage can work very well, especially if you want to control its size and position.

Is it suitable for wet Australian areas?

Is ‘Praying Hands’ the same as an Agave?
