Dorstenia foetida is a fascinating, slow-growing succulent from the fig family (Moraceae), native to arid regions of East Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Its thick, swollen base (caudex) and unusual, star-like flowers make it a favourite among collectors of caudiciform and bonsai-style plants. Despite its name, the plant does not produce a strong odor under normal conditions.
This unique species is prized for its architectural form and ease of care in containers, particularly when grown in well-drained soil with bright light.
