Botanical Name:
Crassula ovata (Miller) Druce 'Hobbit'
Common Names: Hobbit Jade Plant, Finger Jade, Organ Pipe Jade

Distinctive Features:

  • Unusual Leaves:
Thick, tubular or trumpet-shaped leaves with curled, elongated tips create a striking, sculptural look.

    • Color: Deep green, often tinged with red edges that intensify with sun exposure.

  • Compact Growth:
Forms a rounded, shrub-like shape, perfect for containers or small garden spaces. With age, it develops a woody trunk, making it ideal for bonsai-style cultivation.

  • Seasonal Blooms:
In ideal conditions, it produces small, star-shaped flowers in soft shades of white to pale pink, clustered at the tips.

Growing Requirements:

  • Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light with some direct sun to enhance leaf color. Can also tolerate partial shade.

  • Soil:
Thrives in well-draining cactus or succulent mix

  • Watering:
Water deeply but infrequently. Allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.

Perfect For:

  • Indoor spaces like windowsills, desks, and sunny shelves

  • Rock gardens, succulent bowls, or container arrangements

  • Creating a bonsai-style display with age and pruning
