Cacti - ZygoCactus Assorted

Schlumbergera, often referred to by its previous name Zygocactus, and commonly known as Christmas Cactus, Thanksgiving Cactus, or Holiday Cactus, is a captivating genus of tropical cacti native to the coastal mountains of Brazil. These beloved plants are renowned for their vibrant, cascading blooms that appear during the holiday season, adding a festive touch to homes and gardens.

Appearance:

• Stems: Flattened, segmented stems with smooth or slightly scalloped edges. These stems are typically green but can develop a reddish hue when exposed to ample sunlight.

• Flowers: Showy, tubular flowers that bloom from the tips of the stems in a wide range of colors, including red, pink, purple, orange, white, and even yellow. The flowers have a distinctive two-tiered structure, with multiple layers of petals.

• Blooming Season: Typically blooms in late fall to winter, although some varieties may bloom earlier in the fall.

Growing Conditions:

• Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate stems.

• Soil: Well-draining potting mix specifically formulated for cacti and succulents.

• Water: Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry. Reduce watering during the winter dormancy period.

Care Tips:

• Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity levels. Misting or placing a pebble tray filled with water can help increase humidity.

• Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer during the growing season.
