Thelocactus bicolor, also known as the Glory of Texas, is a captivating cactus species native to the Chihuahuan Desert of Texas and Mexico. This stunning succulent is prized for its vibrant, showy flowers and unique appearance.

Appearance:

  • Stem: Globular to cylindrical, typically solitary but can form clusters with age. The stem is blue-green to grayish-green, often with a wooly apex.

  • Ribs: 8-13 distinct ribs, often tuberculate, with prominent areoles.

  • Spines: A mix of central and radial spines, varying in color from yellow to reddish-brown. Central spines are typically longer and stouter than radial spines.

  • Flowers: Large, funnel-shaped flowers in shades of magenta, pink, or purple, with a contrasting red or yellow throat.

Growing Conditions:

  • Light: Full sun exposure is essential for optimal growth and flowering.

  • Soil: Well-draining cactus mix with good aeration.

  • Water: Water moderately during the growing season, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Reduce watering significantly in winter.

Ideal For:

  • Rock Gardens: A stunning addition to rock gardens and xeriscapes.

  • Container Gardening: Can be grown in containers, making them suitable for patios, balconies, or indoors with ample sunlight.

The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 100mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
