Cacti - Mammillaria Prolifera

Mammillaria prolifera, also known as the Texas Nipple Cactus, is a delightful and prolific small cactus native to the southern United States and Mexico.This charming succulent forms clusters of globular stems covered in dense, golden-yellow to white spines.  

In summer, a profusion of creamy-yellow flowers tinged with pink emerge in old axils towards the top of the stems. These delightful blooms give way to edible red berries, which taste like strawberries, adding a surprising culinary twist to this captivating cactus.

Mammillaria prolifera is easy to grow and thrives in well-draining soil with plenty of sunlight. It is drought-tolerant, making it a low-maintenance choice for both beginner and experienced cactus enthusiasts. Its compact size and clustering habit make it an ideal candidate for container gardening, rock gardens, or even as a unique houseplant.
