Espostoa melanostele is a striking columnar cactus native to the Andes of Peru and Ecuador. Known for its distinctive woolly appearance, this cactus is covered in dense white hairs and spines, giving it a soft, fuzzy texture that helps protect it from intense sun and temperature fluctuations in its native environment. As it matures, it forms tall, upright stems that can eventually branch and produce a dramatic architectural silhouette.
This cactus may develop a cephalium—a specialized flowering zone—on mature plants, from which tubular flowers may emerge. Though slow-growing, its unique appearance makes it a standout in any cactus or succulent collection.
