Albuca spiralis, commonly known as Frizzle Sizzle, is a fascinating bulbous succulent native to South Africa. It’s prized for its distinctive, tightly coiled leaves that resemble curly ribbons. Each leaf naturally spirals upwards, giving the plant a playful and sculptural look that’s perfect for windowsills, collectors, or anyone seeking something truly unique.

In late winter to early spring, it sends up a tall flower spike with delicate yellow, sweetly-scented flowers that nod gracefully above the foliage.

Care Instructions

• Light: Prefers bright indirect light to full sun; ideal on sunny windowsills

• Watering: Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Reduce watering after flowering, during dormancy

• Soil: Well-draining sandy or cactus mix is essential

• Temperature: Protect from frost; prefers temperatures above 10°C

• Dormancy: May go dormant in hot summers or after flowering. Leaves may yellow—reduce or stop watering during this phase

• Fertiliser: Feed with a diluted balanced fertiliser during active growth
