Agave Stricta Nana

Agave stricta 'Nana', also known as the Dwarf Hedgehog Agave, is a charming and compact succulent native to the dry, rocky landscapes of Mexico. This miniature agave showcases a captivating form, boasting a dense cluster of rosettes composed of narrow, upright leaves.

Key Features:

• Compact Rosettes: Each rosette is a symmetrical arrangement of numerous, slender, pale green leaves that grow in a dense, ball-like formation.This tightly-packed arrangement gives the plant its characteristic "hedgehog" appearance.  
• Spiny Tips: The leaves taper to sharp, spiny tips, adding a touch of texture and visual interest to the plant. While the spines are not particularly harmful, they provide a subtle defense mechanism and contribute to the agave's overall aesthetic appeal.    

• Flowering: While it may take several years, mature plants will eventually produce a tall, sometimes crooked flower stalk that rises well above the foliage, bearing clusters of yellow flowers. After flowering, the main rosette typically dies back, but the surrounding offsets continue to thrive, ensuring the plant's ongoing presence in the landscape.   

Growing Conditions:

• Sunlight: 'Nana' thrives in full sun to partial shade, though it prefers some afternoon shade in hotter climates.
• Soil: This agave requires well-draining soil, such as a cactus or succulent mix, to prevent root rot.   
• Water: It's drought-tolerant and requires infrequent watering, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings.
