Agave attenuata ‘Kara’s Stripes’ – Bold Variegation Meets Sculptural Grace

Agave attenuata ‘Kara’s Stripes’ is a striking variegated form of the well-known foxtail agave, valued for its soft architectural form and cream-to-yellow striped foliage. This ornamental succulent is ideal for bright indoor spaces, courtyards, and protected outdoor garden beds in Australian climates.

Often searched as “variegated foxtail agave”, “striped agave plant”, and “Agave attenuata variegata”, this cultivar is especially popular with collectors and designers looking for sculptural plants with year-round visual interest.

Its broad, arching leaves form a rosette shape with smooth, spineless edges, making it a safer choice for high-traffic garden areas compared to many other agave types. The variegation pattern can vary between plants, with soft striping that brightens as the plant matures in good light.

In Australian conditions, it performs best in warm, frost-free areas and adapts well to pots or well-draining garden soil. It prefers bright light and benefits from protection during extreme summer heat or cold snaps.

Want your succulent with a pot?

This has been grown in a 130mm nursery pot, so that size is a good guide if you’re picking a pot for home. We usually ship bare root for freshness and to keep costs low, but we’re happy to pot your plant on request!
