Good to Know
Zygo Cactus is different from the typical desert cactus. It naturally grows in humid, sheltered environments and generally prefers more moisture and less intense sunlight.
Try to avoid moving the plant once flower buds have formed. Sudden changes in temperature, light or location can sometimes cause buds to drop.
5 Things You May Not Know
Why is it called a Zygocactus?
Zygocactus is a common name traditionally used for Schlumbergera plants, especially those with segmented, arching stems.
Why are the stems flat and segmented?
The flattened segments are adapted to the plant's natural epiphytic growth habit in trees and sheltered forest environments.
Can Zygo Cactus ‘Livia’ flower more than once?
Yes. A healthy plant can flower again in future seasons when given suitable light, watering and seasonal conditions.
Why are flower buds falling before they open?
Sudden changes in temperature, watering, light or location can cause bud drop. Try to keep the plant in a stable position while it is budding.
Can it grow in a hanging basket?
Yes. Its naturally arching and cascading stems make it particularly attractive in hanging baskets.
