Cryptanthus zonatus, also known as the Earth Star, is a striking terrestrial bromeliad known for its bold, zebra-like leaf patterns. Its flat, star-shaped rosette is formed by wavy-edged leaves marked with silvery-white bands across a deep green or reddish-purple background, making it a standout plant in any indoor collection.
This species remains compact, typically reaching up to 20–30 cm in diameter, and is ideal for small spaces, terrariums, or shaded windowsills. While it doesn’t grow tall, its horizontal spread and vivid foliage make a strong visual impact.
Cryptanthus zonatus thrives in bright, indirect light and high humidity. It prefers well-draining, slightly acidic soil and should be kept evenly moist—but not waterlogged. Unlike many other bromeliads, it grows in soil rather than as an epiphyte.
With proper care, this plant will eventually produce small, inconspicuous flowers and offsets, allowing you to propagate new plants.
A beautiful and low-maintenance choice for anyone looking to add unique foliage and texture to their indoor plant collection.
The succulent plant housed in the red pot comes in a 130mm diameter container. While the image provides a representative depiction of what you will receive, but may vary slightly because no two succulents are the same.
