Euphorbia horrida ‘Striata’ is a distinctive succulent known for its sculptural form and striking ribbed structure. It works well as a feature plant on bright indoor shelves, sunny windowsills, or sheltered patios.
This Euphorbia forms thick, upright stems with pronounced ribs and subtle striped markings that give the ‘Striata’ form its name. The plant has a strong architectural appearance, often developing multiple clustered stems as it matures. Small paired spines run along the ribs, adding texture and visual contrast.
Because of its bold structure and slow-growing habit, Euphorbia horrida Striata is often chosen by collectors and succulent enthusiasts who appreciate unusual, cactus-like plants. Although it resembles a cactus, it belongs to the Euphorbia family and produces a milky sap typical of the genus.
This plant has been grown in a 130mm nursery pot, which is a helpful guide if you are choosing a decorative pot for your home.
We usually ship plants bare root for freshness and to keep shipping costs lower, but we are happy to pot your plant on request.
Care
Light
Prefers bright light with some direct sun. A sunny windowsill or bright outdoor patio position works well once acclimatised.
Water
Allow the soil to dry fully between watering. Reduce watering during cooler months.
Soil
Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
Temperature
Prefers warm conditions. Protect from frost and extended cold periods.
Feeding
A light application of cactus or succulent fertiliser during active growth can support steady development.
Good to know
Like other Euphorbias, this plant produces a milky latex sap when cut or damaged. The sap can irritate skin and eyes, so handle with care and keep away from pets and children.
Plants naturally vary in size and form. Images are representative of what you will receive, but each plant grows with its own unique shape.
